Q: In Waverly I thought it was illegal to mow grass clippings into the street. But today, I saw the city of Waverly mowing grass and it was going onto the streets. They advise against this, but yet our city of Waverly can do it.
A: Correct, Waverly’s City Code states yard waste cannot be blown into the street. Garret Riordan, the city’s leisure services director, said city staff is trained to blow any clippings back onto the property once mowing is complete. If this does not happen, that can be reported to the Leisure Services or Public Services departments.
