BOONE, Iowa – Coverage from the 2026 IHSAA State Soccer Tournament presented by Iowa Farm Bureau will cover all four days and four sites of the June 1-5 event in central Iowa.
Quarterfinals on Monday, June 1 will be shown as 16 free livestreams through Hudl and the IHSAA website Watch page from Valley (4A), Indianola (3A), Gilbert (2A), and Mediacom Stadium (1A).
The semifinals and finals, set for June 3-5 at Mediacom Stadium, will be broadcasts through the IHSAA’s network, with free streaming, statewide over-the-air coverage, as well as other over-the-top options.
As announced in August, IHSAA will provide free streaming through its website and have events appearing across multiple platforms through arrangements with Gray Media, Marquee Sports Network, Mediacom, and Nexstar.

Broadcaster bios
Soccer – semifinals and finals (June 3-5)
- Charlie Bales, analyst: A Cedar Rapids native, Bales capped an impressive prep career by leading Xavier to a state title as a senior. He transitioned his success to the Division I level at Western Illinois University, where he contributed to two Summit League Championships while earning a master’s in sport management. Most recently, as general manager of the Des Moines Menace, he spearheaded the front office during their 2021 campaign, guiding the club to its second-ever national title.
- Ben Brackett, analyst: A Des Moines native, Brackett’s soccer career spans nearly 40 years of playing and coaching in and around central Iowa. He is the co-host of the podcast, Soccer Talk presented by Kick It Forward, an organization that he also works with to develop Musco Mini-Pitches across the state.
- David Fine, play-by-play: Fine has been a play-by-play broadcaster for more than a decade, broadcasting a wide array of sports in eastern Iowa including Iowa Hawkeye athletics, high school athletics, and hockey in the ECHL and select AHL games. He moved to the Hawkeye State in 2021, and lives in eastern Iowa. He was named 2024 ECHL Hockey Broadcaster of the Year, and was a finalist for the ECHL’s PR Director of the Year Award.
- Hunter Phillips, play-by-play: A native of West Des Moines, Phillips is the radio play-by-play voice of Drake University women’s basketball. He has announced baseball, basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball broadcasts at both the high school and collegiate level, including Drake University and Missouri Valley Conference men’s and women’s soccer on ESPN Plus and IHSAA state championship soccer.
- Doug Sawyer, analyst: Sawyer has been involved with the game of soccer as a player and coach for over 50 years. He still holds scoring records from his playing days, and was the first soccer player inducted into the North Central College (IL) Athletic Hall of Fame. As a longtime coach in the Des Moines area, Doug also serves on the IHSAA’s soccer rankings committee.
- Bill Shields, analyst: Originally from Scotland, Shields played and coached there and in Australia before moving to Adel, Iowa in 1984. The head coach at ADM from 1988-2022, the Tigers qualified for eight state tournaments under Shields. He serves on the IHSAA’s soccer rankings committee and is a member of the IHSSCA’s Hall of Fame.
