For the 17th year, The Courier will honor eight remarkable individuals who are 80 or older and who in their own way have spent their lives demonstrating leadership. These honorees have made a difference and set examples in their careers and lives, continuing to contribute now and in the past to our community’s well-being.
In previous years, recipients have included longtime businesspeople, educators, medical professionals, volunteers, people who have been active in service or arts organizations and other areas throughout the community.
This year’s honorees are:

Bonetta Culp, 80, insurance agent, Waterloo.Â
Ken and Patty Cutts, 82 and 80, longtime educators, Cedar Falls.
Tim Hurley, 80, John Deere manufacturing professional and former mayor of Waterloo.
Wayne Magee, 80, Cedar Falls, owner, Magee Construction.Â

This year's selection committee consisted of Glen Keith, Suzanne Benda, Tracy Freese, Bryan Burton, Kristena Potratz, Rosemary Beach, Lauren Finke, Roger Kueter, and Helen Schumacher.
Eight Over 80 is presented by The Courier, Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa and Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley. Event sponsors include Cedar Valley Hospice and Magee Construction Company.
