WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Charles City Area Development Corporation has once again been accredited by the International Economic Development Council.
The corporation is one of 91 economic development organizations in the world that the IEDC recognizes as an accredited economic development organization. Originally accredited in 2022, it was reaccredited after three successful years of activity as an AEDO member.
“The Charles City Area Development Corporation displays the professionalism, commitment, and technical expertise that is deserving of this honor,” IEDC President and CEO Nathan Ohle said in a news release.
The AEDO program is a comprehensive peer review process that measures economic development organizations against commonly held standards in the profession. The program consists of two phases: a documentation review and an onsite visit. Each phase is designed to evaluate information about the structure, organization, funding, program, and staff of the candidate economic development organization.
According to the release, earning the AEDO accreditation tells the community and prospects that the Charles City Area Development Corporation attained a measure of excellence assuring that their trust is well placed and their business is in good hands.
CCADC President Scott Melliere said “being one of 91 worldwide in anything places you in a class by yourself, let alone this being a remarkable achievement for a small agency in rural America.” Melliere cited staff associates Christy Laube and Shannon Schaeffer for their supportive efforts.
CCADC CEO Timothy S. Fox said this accomplishment is “testament to what can be achieved with an engaged board of directors and exceptional local support from businesses, manufacturers, banks and units of government. Our overarching goals are to be competitive, capable and competent.”
The International Economic Development Council is the largest membership association serving economic and community development professionals in the world. With more than 5,000 members nationwide and abroad, IEDC offers the economic development profession one source for information and professional development, one voice for the profession and one force for advocacy.
