Synodical Presbyterian Hospital Association

This week Flashback Friday is featuring the Presbyterian Hospital. The hospital opened Sept. 27, 1904, as Synodical Presbyterian Hospital Association of Waterloo near Leavitt and West Ninth streets. By 1938 it became apparent that the original building was no longer adequate and a new hospital was needed. Schoitz Memorial Hospital opened Jan. 6, 1951, at the corner of Kimball and Ridgeway avenues, with the transfer of patients from the Presbyterian Hospital building.
