- Waterloo West will be hosting a middle school girls’ basketball camp from 9 a.m. until noon the week of June 11-15.

- University of Northern Iowa freshman Emily Snelling was named Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week Wednesday.
Snelling, from Clear Lake, earned medalist honors at the Indiana State Spring Invite April 8-9 with a performance that included a season-low round of 70 that featured six birdies.
- A pair of Waterloo East High School seniors have signed letters of intent to compete at the collegiate level.
Alanna Muhammad has committed to run track at Wartburg College. She is a two-time placewinner in the state 100 and 200 and a two-time state champion in the 4x100 relay.
DeNae Nash will play basketball at Kansas City Community College. She spent the past two seasons at East after moving into the district from Illinois.
- Two University of Northern Iowa football players and a school-record 13 Wartburg College players have been named to the 2018 National Football Foundation’s Hampshire Honor Society.
The HHS recognizes student-athletes who are starters or significant contributors, achieve a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade-point average throughout their undergraduate study and meet all NCAA/NAIA progress toward degree requirements.
UNI’s honorees are Lee Carhart and Jared Farley, while Wartburg’s recipients are Tony Anstoetter, Brayton Brandt, Griffin Brennecke, Noah Dahlstrom, Parker Hammel, Troy Heick, Jordan Johnson, Jake Pisarik, Mitch Roe, Hunter Sabers, Tom Schiffer, Ben Strathman and Ben Weber.
