ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Waterloo sank to its eighth straight Northwoods League baseball defeat Wednesday as St. Cloud blanked the Bucks, 9-0.

Rox starting pitcher Evan Johnson, a native of Gilbert, shut down Waterloo (1-8 second half, 11-33 overall) for the first six innings, allowing three hits and two walks with six strikeouts.

St. Cloud (4-4, 20-24) gave Johnson plenty of run support.

Connor Aube doubled, stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly for a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

The Rox tacked on six runs in the second when Ricardo Sanchez doubled in two, Aube knocked in two more with his second two-bagger, Ryan Weisenberg added an RBI single and Aube scored on a groundout.

St. Cloud’s lead grew to 8-0 in the fourth on a double by Ryan Davis and Landon Stephen’s run-scoring single, and Jack Barrie capped the scoring when he led off the fifth with a solo home run.

Waterloo moves on to Willmar for a two-game series beginning Thursday night.
