YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Waterloo struggled to get the puck past Youngstown goaltender Ivan Prosvetov as the Black Hawks dropped a 2-1 United States Hockey League game to the Phantoms Friday night.

Waterloo’s only penalty of the opening period cost the Black Hawks the only goal of the period as Youngstown took a 1-0 lead.

The Phantoms (21-16-4-1) made it 2-0 midway through the second period. Waterloo’s only goal came from Ben Finkelstein with 11 seconds remaining after the Black Hawks pulled goalie Jared Moe.

Waterloo, which racked up 35 shots on goal, suffered its first regulation defeat in its last eight games and fell to 25-12-3-1 on the season.

The Black Hawks play at Youngstown again Saturday at 6:05 p.m.
