A four-year varsity regular, Polendo has been a key defender for this combined program and so far this season she has chipped in offensively with four shots on goal. Also involved in volleyball and cheerleading, Polendo plans to attend Indian Hills Community College next year to play soccer. "Ashley continues to work hard on and off the field to bring the team together as a unit. She is our first line of defense and teams struggle to get around her. She knows how to read the field well and helps her teammates know where to be from her central defensive spot," said Hudson/D-NH coach Ashley Smiley.

After posting an 11-3 mark last spring from the No. 4 spot, Campbell is 4-1 this spring at the No. 3 position, including a big win over Ames senior Ryan Jeong, 6-3, 6-1 last week. Campbell is also 3-2 with doubles partner Siddhartha Kalala. "Ben has become a dominant player at No. 3 for us," Tigers head coach Brian Suiter said. "He is able to put opponents away after he builds a lead, which shows a great improvement in his mental game from last year." Campbell is also involved in cross country, bowling and band.

Fulcher has been a standout three-sport athlete for the Pirates, playing a pivotal role for Hudson's Class A state runner-up football team in the fall as a running back, winning the 220-pound 1A state wrestling championship in the winter and now has qualified No. 2 for the Drake Relays in the shot put along with top-ranked teammate Dawson Ellingson. Fulcher also runs the 100 and 200 for Hudson and is part of the Pirates' school record sprint medley relay team. "Cam is a workhorse," Hudson throws coach Clayton Werkman said. "He's strong and explosive, but most importantly, he is coachable and stayed patient while learning shot put technique and it is finally paying off." Fulcher will attend Northern Iowa this fall.

Robinson is a Drake Relays and state track qualifier from last year and so far this season the junior has picked up where he left off, helping the Trojans' 4x100 and 4x200 teams qualify for the Drake Relays again. He has been chosen as one the team captains. "His work ethic is a coach's dream. He's committed to the weight room and he competes at a very high level," says East head coach Tim Moses. In addition to participating in football and track, Robinson is involved with East's IJAG program where he has volunteered in numerous community service projects. Robinson has a 3.2 grade point average.

Taylor Hogan

Tennis coach Dave Will calls Hogan one of the best athletes to have walked the halls at Columbus. Already a two-time state doubles champion with former teammate Lauren McManus, Hogan is coming off victories at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles at the Clinton Invitational this past weekend. "She is an outstanding athlete and has a great mind for tennis, nothing flusters her. She wins on athletic ability and her tennis ability," says Will. In addition to her tennis exploits, Hogan, a 4.0 student, recently finished seventh in the state diving championships and is one of the top gymnasts in the Midwest. And, to boot, Hogan was the starting shortstop on the Sailors' state-qualifying softball team last summer.
