- Dan Huff has been named the new District Athletics and Activities Director for Waterloo Schools, pending board approval.
A graduate of Waterloo West High School and the University of Northern Iowa, Huff most recently was principal at Howard Middle School Academy of Arts in Orlando, Florida. He also spent 15 years as principal and athletics director at North Butler High School in Greene and 13 years as assistant principal, director of student affairs, dean of students, reading lab coordinator, Spanish teacher and coach at Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, Florida.
Huff replaces Dr. Willie Barney, who resigned earlier this year.
- Luther College women’s basketball standouts Claire Marburger and Laura Hamilton have been selected to play for the USA D-3 All-Star team that will travel to Brazil for a series of games July 16-25.
The team will be coached by Luther head coach Amanda Bailey and assistant Tayler Jenks.
Marburger and Hamilton were first-team all-Iowa Conference players last season. Marburger ranked fourth in the league in scoring at 17.6 points per game and Hamilton was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year.
