LA PORTE CITY -- A strong defensive effort helped Waterloo Columbus break a seven-game losing streak with a 45-20 win over Union of La Porte City in North Iowa Cedar League action Tuesday.

Ali Vesely had 16 points, while Reagan Lindsey and Chloe Butler each chipped in seven for the Sailors (4-7).
