The weekend’s rugged weather forced several changes in the area and metro sports schedules.
Saturday’s Indiana State at Northern Iowa softball game was cancelled due to cold temperatures and high winds. The Sycamores and Panthers are scheduled to play a Missouri Valley Conference doubleheader Sunday at Robinson-Dresser Complex, beginning at noon.
An Iowa Conference baseball doubleheader between Simpson and Wartburg set for Saturday was postponed. The teams will play Sunday at 11 a.m. and conclude the four-game series Monday at 3:30 p.m.
A girls’ track meet at Kingston Stadium in Cedar Rapids set for Saturday has been cancelled. Cedar Falls, Waterloo East and Waterloo West were among the teams scheduled to compete.
Two Saturday tennis meets also were lost to the weather. The Tiger Invitational, a girls’ event hosted by Cedar Falls, has been postponed with no makeup date announced. A triangular girls’ meet at the Veterans Memorial Tennis Center involving Waterloo West has been cancelled.
Friday’s boys’ track meet at Kingston Stadium has been postponed and will be run April 11. However, Cedar Falls athletic director Gary Koenen said Friday that the Tigers will not participate in the rescheduled event.
Friday track meets at North Fayette Valley and Vinton-Shellsburg were not held. The Vinton-Shellsburg meet, with Waterloo Columbus scheduled to compete, will be made up on April 14.
