DUBUQUE — With a Divisional title well within its grasp, the Cedar Falls boys golf team kept its foot on the gas Monday.
Ben Bermel and Trevor Heinen tied for second overall and the Tigers won the Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division title with ease, finishing 23 strokes ahead of Cedar Rapids Washington.
The Tigers, who had the best score in all three rounds of the tournament, put together a three-round score of 914. They shot 310 Monday.
Bermel and Heinen tied Connor Neighbors for the day’s top score of 74 and each shot 217 over three rounds. Neighbors, a junior from Washington, was the tournament medalist with a 214.
Joe Dean (241) and Kevin Yang (242) completed the scoring for Cedar Falls.
MISSISSIPPI DIVISION: Linn-Mar took first with a score of 907 while Cedar Rapids Xavier was the overall medalist with a 216.
Waterloo West took fifth with a score of 1,075. The Wahawks were led by Tyler Jolley’s 352.
Waterloo East, which only had three active golfers compete Monday, didn’t record a final team score.
