CEDAR FALLS — Kiana Barney became the seventh member of the coveted girls’ basketball 1,000-point club at Cedar Falls High Saturday as the Tigers thrashed Marshalltown 72-13.

Barney entered the night needing 11 points to reach 1,000 and she finished with 14. Kamryn Finley led the second-ranked Tigers (13-1) with 18 points and now needs just seven to reach 1,000 for her career.

Cedar Falls led 49-8 at halftime behind another smothering defensive effort, but the night belonged to Barney.

“It was exciting for Kiana to get her 1,000th,” said Tigers head coach Gregg Groen. “Kiana is the type of kid who not only has performed on the court but she does a lot of things off the court, too, in terms of the team and team building and the attitude she brings.”

WATERLOO WEST 65, TURKEY VALLEY 45: Waterloo West bolted to a 19-3 lead after the opening period and went on to a solid road win at Turkey Valley in non-conference action Saturday night.

NaTracia Ceaser scored 18 points while Lauren Conrey and Jada Draine added 10 each for a Wahawk team (8-7) that had 11 players break into the scoring column.

Elli Winter tallied 20 points to lead Turkey Valley (8-7).
