MARION — Cedar Falls’ offense clicked early and the fifth-ranked Tiger girls’ basketball team went on to a 62-48 win over Linn-Mar in Mississippi Valley Conference action Tuesday in Marion.

Cedar Falls jumped out to an 18-10 lead after the first quarter and kept the Lions at bay most of the night to win for the 10th straight game.

Cynthia Wolf scored 18 points, Kiana Barney 13 and Emmerson Green came off the bench to chip in 10 for the Tigers.

WATERLOO WEST 59, CEDAR RAPIDS KENNEDY 45: Waterloo West used a perfect night from the free-throw line and a strong defensive effort to turn back Cedar Rapids Kennedy, 59-45, in Mississippi Valley Conference girls’ basketball.

West went 14-for-14 from the stripe. Tahya Campbell finished with 24 points to lead the Wahawks (9-6, 4-5).

CEDAR RAPIDS WASHINGTON 73, WATERLOO EAST 60: Waterloo East went cold in the second half as Cedar Rapids Washington rallied to defeat the Trojans, 73-60.

East (4-11, 1-7) took a nine-point lead to halftime, 38-29, but scored just five points in the third quarter as the Warriors (7-9, 4-5) pulled even. Washington, which hit 10 3-pointers in the game, went on to score 30 points in the final period to win it.

Amanee Clark had a big night for East with 29 points.

COLO-NESCO 68, VALLEY LUTHERAN 19: Colo-Nesco’s 14th-ranked girls’ basketball team pinned a 68-19 Iowa Star defeat on Valley Lutheran Tuesday.

The Royals (14-2, 13-1), whose only league loss was to Dunkerton, blew the game open with a 36-7 second-half scoring advantage.

Emma Armbrect led the Crusaders (2-12) with 14 points.
