DES MOINES — Marion unleashed another barrage of 3-point baskets and put the finishing touch on a perfect season Friday night with a 69-48 win over Grinnell in the Class 4A girls’ state basketball championship game.

The Indians were 13 of 29 from 3-point range and set a tournament record with 36 in three games.

Freshman Riley Wright and sophomore Kayba Laube had 16 points each for Marion, which finished 26-0.

The Indians led just 29-22 at halftime, but gradually pulled away in the second half.

Grinnell, which finished 23-3, got 23 points from Sienna Durr.
