TRIPOLI —Sean McFadden joined the 1,000-point club for his high school career and seventh-ranked Don Bosco riddled Tripoli 83-42 in an Iowa Star Conference boys’ basketball game Friday.

McFadden, who finished the night with 14 points and 1,007 overall, nearly had company in the exclusive club. Zach Nie had a huge game for the Dons (14-2, 7-1) with nine 3-pointers and 33 points and stands one point short of 1,000 for his career.

Don Bosco’s defense held Tripoli’s leading scorer Zach Johnson scoreless while Elijah Cheever finished with 17 for the Panthers (8-8, 4-5).

WAVERLY-SHELL ROCK 62, WAUKON 36: Jack Seward scored 23 points to lead Waverly-Shell Rock to a 62-36 win over Waukon.

The Go-Hawk senior was successful on seven 3-point attempts as W-SR improved to 9-1 in conference play and 12-4 overall.

The Indians, third in the conference, are now 6-3 and 10-5.

DUNKERTON 64, JANESVILLE 55: Dunkerton celebrated a win on senior night as the sixth-ranked Raiders turned back Janesville’s upset bid.

Dunkerton (16-1, 8-0) got out to a big lead early and finished out an undefeated home season. Brady Happel led five Raiders in double-figure scoring with 14 points.

Codey Hicks splashed in 20 for Janesville (11-6, 5-4).

NEW HAMPTON 62, DECORAH 53: New Hampton held off Decorah in Northeast Iowa action.

Chickasaws senior Jake Zwanziger was the game’s leading scorer with 15 points.

APLINGTON-PARKERSBURG 88, JESUP 64: Aplington-Parkersburg cranked up its offense Friday and shot down Jesup in North Iowa Cedar League action.

The seventh-ranked Falcons hit eight 3-pointers and poured in 30 points in the opening quarter.

Five players scored in double figures for A-P (16-1, 12-0). Carter Cuvelier had 18, Aaron Price matched a career high with 16, Coby Hoff and Grant Truax added 14 apiece and Alec Oberhauser chipped in 11.

Jesup (9-8, 7-6) got 16 points from Joey Youngblut.

APLINGTON-PARKERSBURG 40, JESUP 38: Fourth-quarter free throws lifted Aplington-Parkersburg to a two-point win at Jesup in a back-and-forth North Iowa Cedar League battle.

With less than two minutes to go and down by three, Jesup (10-8, 8-5) had a chance to cut the lead but missed and was forced to foul. Aplington-Parkersburg (11-6, 9-4) made 14 of 19 free throws on the night.

Jesup’s Emily Treptow led all scorers with 14 points.

DECORAH 41, NEW HAMPTON 38: Decorah held off New Hampton and avenged an early season loss in a tightly contested Northeast Iowa matchup.

Lindsey McEnaney scored 10 points for Decorah (7-11, 4-6) while Isabel Leichtman had 15 for New Hampton (9-9, 4-6).

JANESVILLE 35, DUNKERTON 32: Grace Hovenga scored 15 points and Janesville held off Dunkerton in a matchup for first place in the Iowa Star North.

Janesville, ranked 11th, protected its lead atop the standings and improved to 16-1 overall and 11-0 in the league. Dunkerton is 14-4 and 9-2.

GRUNDY CENTER 57, AGWSR 53: Eighth-ranked Grundy Center won a North Iowa Cedar League and top 10 showdown over seventh-rated AGWSR.

Grundy Center (16-1, 10-1) buckled down on defense at the start of the second half to build a 34-26 lead, then fought off the Cougars (15-2, 9-2) down the stretch for its 10th straight win.

Hailey Wallis notched 19 points to lead the Spartans, but the game’s overall top scorer was AGWSR’s Mandy Willems with 25 points.
