CLEAR LAKE — Sixth-ranked Don Bosco of Gilbertville shut down West Fork Monday night with a berth in the Class 1A boys’ state basketball tournament up for grabs, 53-44.

West Fork (19-6) was one of the hottest teams in Class 1A coming into the game with 13 straight wins. The Warhawks averaged 69.5 points, allowed just 49.6, held seven opponents to fewer than 50 points and avenged two early season losses during that stretch. They also won five of those 13 games by five or fewer points.

Don Bosco shut down West Fork’s attack and found enough points to improve to 22-3 and claim the berth in next week’s state tournament at Wells Fargo Center in Des Moines.
