DECORAH – Top-ranked Decorah put together another overpowering performance as the Vikings routed the Comets in a non-district matchup.

Decorah (4-0) led 35-0 after the opening quarter and used four turnovers, including three interceptions, to blow the game open. Josh Ihde returned one of those picks 39 yards for a score.

Josey Jewell paced a balanced rushing attack with 74 yards, and Holt Johansen added 69. Quarterback Jacob Kvale completed 2 of 3 passes for 22 yards.

Charles City (0-4) got 120 passing yards from Levi Miller. Thomas Nairn caught three of those throws for 53 yards.

CLEAR LAKE – Clear Lake’s defense held Waverly-Shell Rock to 83 yards of total offense as the Lions roared to a shutout victory in District 3.

Clear Lake (3-1, 1-0) led 28-0 at halftime and was never threatened. The Go-Hawks (1-3, 0-2)ran just 33 offensive plays to the Lions’ 68, gave away three turnovers and finished with only five first downs.

OELWEIN – Crestwood used a 14-point third quarter to slide past Oelwein.

The Cadets (1-3 overall, 1-0 district) ran for 263 yards, led by Kody Sindelar’s 77 and 59 by Jordan Hogan. Shawn Omar led the defensive effort with 13 tackles, including 11 solos, while Kolter Friedhof and Jeffery Haskovec intercepted passes.

New Hampton, 48 Nashua Plainfield 7

NEW HAMPTON – Brandon Tenge accumulated 127 rushing yards on 25 carries and scored four touchdowns, and Noah Stochl completed 11 of 15 passes for 197 yards and a score as No. 7 New Hampton rolled to a non-district victory.

Nashua-Plainfield sophomore Zade McCall led the Huskies in rushing yards with 32 on 7 carries.

New Hampton improved to 4-0, while Nashua Plainfield fell to 2-3.

PARKERSBURG – No. 9 Aplington-Parkersburg had a total of 485 yards on offense as the Falcons cruised.

Quarterback Kollin Cuvelier was 6 of 6 passing, while Falcon running back Brady Frey was the leading rusher with 107 yards on 17 carries with three touchdowns. Falcon senior Hunter Carmichael added 77 rushing yards on just four carries and scored twice. West Fork junior quarterback Spencer Halloran had 315 total yards with 97 of them coming on the ground and 218 going through the air. He completed 23 of 35 passes. Aplington-Parkersburg improved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in District 3, while West Fork fell to 1-3.

DIKE – Dike-New Hartford was clicking on all cylinders in its District 3 blowout victory.

Wolverine running back Terry Mooty rushd for 182 yards on only nine carries and scored three times. Ben Cuvelier ran for 101 yards on just eight carries. Quarterback Carson Parker was perfect on the night, going 4-for-4 passing for 64 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.

The leading receiver for Dike-New Hartford was Marcus Luna, who caught three passes for 58 yards and one touchdown. The Wolverines accumulated 518 total yards overwhelming the Eagles’ 117.

Dike-New Hartford improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the district.

ST. ANSGAR – Saint Ansgar opened district play with a convincing win over North Fayette.

The Saints were led by Skyler Hulshizer with 159 yards rushing on 14 carries and Kyle Hansen with 112 yards, also on 14 carries. The No. 3 Saints improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the district.

The Hawks (2-2, 0-2) scored when Derrick Kuehner returned a punt 92 yards to tie the game at 7-7 in the second quarter.

Wapsie Valley had eight players carry the ball and as a team gained 337 yards. Quarterback Mitch Boevers completed 3 of 5 passes, two for touchdowns, for another 94 yards. Ethan Kleutsch led the ground attack with 84 yards on 10 carries.

Vincent Mossmann scored the lone East Buchanan touchdown on an 11-yard run, but North Butler answered back with a 75-yard kickoff return by Kaleb Junker. Junker finished the game with three rushing touchdowns and 72 yards on three carries.
