MADISON, Wis. — Northern Iowa’s track and field teams won 12 events in a strong performance Friday at the Wisconsin Twilight meet.
The Panthers also posted 12 marks that rank among the Missouri Valley Conference’s top five.
UNI winners in the women’s events were Brette Correy in the 800 (2:06.65), Sarah Pate in the hammer throw (205 feet), Chyna Watson-Reid in the 100 (12.18), Maddie Irmen in the 400 (56.86), Maddie Bell in the 200 (25.02) and the 4x100 of Jasmine Blue, Bell, Irmen and Watson-Reid (46.71).
In the men’s competition, Isaac Holtz won the discus (185-0), Keegan Tritle took the shot put (60-10.5), Chase Van Sant won the long jump (23-2.5), Connor Ham won the 110 hurdles (14.09), Matt Turcotte was tops in the 100 (10.76) and Bryce Newcomb led the 400-meter field (48.10).
Correy took over the conference lead with her performance, as did Hope Koerperich with her runner-up mark of 148-11 in the javelin and Holtz in the men’s discus.
