LAWRENCE, Kan. — Northern Iowa couldn’t get its offense going Saturday as the Panthers split a pair of games at the Kansas Invitational softball tournament for the second straight day.

UNI edged Wisconsin-Green Bay 1-0, but dropped a 5-3 decision to Missouri-Kansas City in nine innings.

Brooke Craig improved to 7-3 in the first game, firing a complete-game three-hitter. The Panthers plated the only run in the third on a throwing error.

UNI worked its way around trouble for much of the second game, but got a game-tying, two-out home run from Brittney Krodinger in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings. Brittney Krodinger also had a double while Courtney Krodinger doubled and tripled.

UNI also went 1-1 Friday, falling to Nebraska 6-3 before an eight-run third inning fueled an 8-4 win over Kansas.

In the first game, Nebraska (13-7) slammed a pair of home runs and scored in four different innings. Brittney Roby and Jaclyn Spencer had two hits each for the Panthers.

Against Kansas, Roby went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs, Kennedy Bailey was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and Adara Opiola also knocked in two.
