TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Indiana State erupted for all six of its runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Northern Iowa 6-5 Sunday and take two of three in the weekend Missouri Valley Conference series.

The Panthers (15-13, 3-3) built a 5-0 lead with the help of Bailey Lange’s two-run homer in the fifth and Sammey Bunch’s solo blast that started a three-run UNI seventh.

As rain began to fall, so did the hits for Indiana State (15-13, 2-4).

The Sycamores got their first run on a bases-loaded walk, Brooke Riemenschneid followed with a pinch-hit, two-run single, Erika Crissman singled in two more runs and a sacrifice fly plated the game-winner.

Bunch and Lange had two hits each for a Panther offense that had just five total.

UNI returns to action Wednesday with a 4 p.m. game at Iowa State.
