ST. LOUIS — Northern Iowa will be the ninth seed for the Missouri Valley Conference men’s basketball tournament that begins Thursday at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

The Panthers closed the regular season with a pair of victories to finish at 7-11 in conference play (15-15 overall) and tied for seventh in the final standings.

The tie was broken using the league’s final tiebreaker, adjusted RPI. Both Missouri State (133) and Evansville (137) own a slightly better RPI than UNI (141).

The Panthers will play Evansville (7-11, 17-14) in the 6 p.m. game Thursday in St. Louis with the winner advancing to meet top-seeded Loyola Friday. The tournament semifinals are Saturday with the championship game Sunday afternoon.
