- University of Northern Iowa seniors Elijah Campbell and Jared Farley each were named to their fourth All-America teams Tuesday, earning second-team honors from STATS.
Earlier this month, Campbell and Farley earned honors from the Associated Press, College Sports Madness and Phil Steele. The STATS FCS All-America honors are the most for UNI since the Panthers had four players recognized in 2015.
- The Cedar Valley CourtKings have signed Midwest Basketball League veteran Marcus Smith of Milwaukee for the 2018 season.
A 6-foot-3 guard who has played professionally in the U.S. and overseas, Smith averaged 21 points per game for the MBL's Central Indiana Crusaders last season.
- Waterloo East and Waterloo West high schools announced Tuesday that Christian Worthley has been recommended to the Waterloo Board of Education as the head girls’ soccer coach for the combined Waterloo team.
Worthley graduated from Gresham Union High School in Gresham, Ore., and attended William Penn University in Oskaloosa.
He has 30 years of soccer coaching experience ranging from youth through the college level and is currently director of soccer operations for the Cedar Valley Soccer Club.
