CEDAR FALLS — Northern Iowa director of athletics David Harris announced Wednesday he has extended the contract of Panther head cross country/track coach Dave Paulsen to 2022.

The extension comes on the heels of a men’s conference championship in the the outdoor season, the second title since Paulsen took over in 2015-16.

“Dave and his staff have done a great job of leading our Track and Field and Cross Country programs,” Harris said. “In consecutive years, we have won a conference championship in women’s cross country and a conference championship in men’s outdoor track and field.

“As an alum, Dave has a great passion for this institution and a burning desire to lead the Panthers to more championships in years to come. We are excited to have him leading our track and field and cross country programs and look forward to working together toward an even brighter future ahead.”

Paulsen, who will enter his 11th year with UNI having served as an assistant coach prior to being named head coach, was named the 2018 USTFCCCA’s Midwest Coach of the Year.
