Wartburg college head wrestling coach Eric Keller has been named the d3wrestle.com National Coach of the Year.
Keller also received the honor in 2012 and 2015. This past season, he led the Knights to a record 13th NCAA Division III championship with 129.5 points and nine All-Americans.
Wartburg also went 20-0 in dual meets last season, won the Iowa Conference for the 25th straight season and extended its streak of league dual wins to 196.
Des Moines and Grand View University will host the 2018 and 2019 NAIA national wrestling championships.
The tournaments will feature 210 of the best wrestlers in NAIA at the Iowa State Fairgrounds Jacobson Exhibition Center. The 2018 tournament is March 2-3 with the 2019 event March 1-2.
The Evansdale Youth Sports Association has added two additional registration opportunities for the 2017 softball and t-ball seasons.
The program offers t-ball and softball for boys and girls in the Cedar Valley and surrounding communities ages pre-kindergarten through high school.
Additional sign-up dates, at Evansdale City Hall, are Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 p.m. For more information, go online at www.eysasports.org.
Registration is open through April 5 for Waterloo Leisure Services’ 2017 Optimist baseball and softball programs.
Competition is offered in AA (2nd-3rd grades), AAA (4th-5th grades) and Major League (6th-8th grades). Registration fee for AA and AAA is $65 and the cost for Major League is $70.

The Wolf Creek Rugby Club based in La Porte City and Dysart is hosting a tournament Friday night at the middle school football field in Dysart.
The eight-team field also includes Waverly-Shell Rock, Osage, Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Iowa City and Cedar Rapids. The opening game is at 6:30 p.m.
Wolf Creek Rugby was the Iowa Youth Rugby Association 1A champion last fall.
Admission for the tounament is $5 with children six and under free.
Track and field
Waterloo East High School senior Tarrel Manning has signed to compete in track and field for Hawkeye Community College next season.
Manning was a 2015 state qualifier in the high jump and recently won the high jump at a meet in Decorah. She also runs the 200 meters.
Darwin and Jeff Heltibridle used a 10.58-pound walleye to capture the first Cedar Valley Walleye Club tournament of the season March 25 on Pool 9 of the Mississippi River.
The Heltibridles finished with 17.17 pounds. Larry Venner and Chad Osthoff were second at 12.25 pounds with Taylor Steffens and Connor Steffens third at 8.89 pounds.
