College wrestling: No. 1 Wartburg sweeps through IIAC Duals

DUBUQUE — Top-ranked Wartburg College cruised through its half of the Iowa Conference Duals Saturday while Loras upset Coe to win the other half of the competition.

Wartburg defeated Dubuque 47-3, 10th-ranked Central 37-6 and Buena Vista 40-3 in matches held in Dubuque. In Decorah, Loras finished 4-0, including a 21-20 win over No. 13 Coe on criteria. Luther went 2-2, defeating Nebraska Wesleyan 45-3 and Simpson 33-11 while falling to Coe 35-12 and Loras 24-13.

Cross Cannone had a big day for Wartburg (17-0, 6-0), going 3-0 with a pin and two major decisions. He was the only Knight to wrestle all three duals. Kenny Martin went 2-0 with a technical fall and a major, while Logan Thomsen, Andrew Steiert, Tyler Lutes, Kyle Fank and Lance Evans also won both their matches.

For Luther, 184-pounder Justin Kreiter dominated his four opponents with three pins and a major decision. Keenan Feldpausch went 2-0 at 285 pounds.
