College volleyball: Wartburg headed back to NCAA tourney

CEDAR RAPIDS — Wartburg College is headed back to the NCAA Division III volleyball tournament.

Dike’s Lizzy Blough delivered 15 kills and Aryn Jones 12, and the Knights’ defense dazzled Saturday during a 25-17, 20-25, 25-22, 25-12 triumph over Coe in the championship match of the Iowa Conference tournament.

Kathryn Nasby had 26 digs and Mallory Erbe 23 for Wartburg (21-5), which won the tournament for the fourth time in the past five seasons and will be making its 10th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Knights will learn their opponent Monday.

Coe (23-11) got 23 kills from Lindsey Koch.

As a team, Wartburg held advantages in hitting percentage (.300-.157), assists (52-50), service aces (7-2), digs (81-67) and blocks (10-3).
