PELLA — Wartburg College put together a big second day and captured the women’s team championship at the Iowa Conference Indoor meet Saturday.

The Knights finished with 212.5 points while Nebraska Wesleyan was second with 182. Luther settled into sixth place with 30 points. Wartburg head coach Marcus Newsom and his staff were named Coaching Staff of the Year.

In the men’s competition, Dubuque edged Central 138-131 for the title. Wartburg was third with 114 points and Luther eighth with 20.

Individually, Wartburg got wins from Betsy Duehr in the 800 (2:19.23) where the Knights took five of the top six places, Cassidy Christopher in the mile (5:10.77), Ashlyn Bagge in the 3,000 (10:11.66) where Wartburg went 1-2-3, and the 5,000 (17:29.20), Jarika Eisentrager in the long jump (17-4.75).

The Knights added three relay wins — the 4x400 of Duehr, Belle Tyynismaa, Teylor Jones and Aubree Taylor (3:58.57), the 4x800 of Meghan Silbernagel, Grace Hoins, Erica Rittgers and Maddie Carlsen (9:41.26) and the distance medley group of Silbernagel, Jaderial Staebler, Duehr and Carlsen (12:31.39).

In the men’s meet, Casey Roberts won the 800 for Wartburg (1:55.54) and the Knights claimed the distance medley relay with Conor Sapp, Levi Dolphin, Cody Snider and Roberts (10:24.62).
