- Wartburg College senior Katie Sommer is one of 10 national finalists for the Jostens Award.
The award is presented to Division III men’s and women’s basketball players who excel on the court, in the classroom and in the community. The winners will be announced March 9 with the awards presentation March 15 in conjunction with the Division III men’s basketball semifinals and championship in Salem, Virginia.
- Northern Iowa’s third annual RUN4UNI race is scheduled for Saturday, April 28 beginning at 8 a.m.
Participants have the option of running the full four-mile course or a one-mile course. Nearly 300 runners took part last year. Proceeds benefit the Panther Scholarship Club.

- The 2018 Walleye Anglers Trail season kicks off Sunday, March 11 on the Illinois River at Spring Valley, Illinois.
Last year, more than 60 teams participated in the Spring Valley event.
The W.A.T. season also includes an April 22 event on the Mississippi River at Bellevue, a June 3 tournament at Prairie du Chien, Wis., and a June 24 tourney at Genoa, Wis., before wrapping up with the season championship Oct. 14 out of Dubuque.
Entry fees for the four qualifying events are $250 per two-person team with a $150 optional side pot with 100 percent payback.
