Q. Sen. Chuck Grassley has sponsored a bill that would allow people to buy hearing aids over the counter to improve your hearing. How is this bill doing in the Senate?

A. The bill was introduced March 31. It was referred to the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, but no further action has been taken.

Q. Is there still a kitchen shop in Cedar Falls? If so, what is the address?

A. Kitchen Essentials is open at 212 Main St.

Q. What is the beginning and end date for the Hy-Vee grocery receipts that can be used for schools?

A. Local school staff say they can take receipts from July 1 through the end of the school year.

Q. Is there an age limit when you no longer have to serve jury duty? A lot of people are confused on this.

A. Under Iowa law, the only mention of the age of potential jurors is they have to be at least 18 years old. People can ask the court to take their age into consideration and request to be excused, but that's not automatic.

Q: Why did Tamron Hall leave the NBC "Today Show"? What is she doing now?

A: Hall left the show at the beginning of February after being told former Fox News star Megyn Kelly was taking over her slot in the fall. She hosts a crime show on the Investigation Discovery channel and earlier this year signed a deal to develop a daytime talk show.

Q: At the World Series, how has the Florida Marlins guy with a cap on gotten a front row seat at the games the last few years?

A. He just buys the tickets. According to the Miami Herald, "'Marlins Man' is Laurence Leavy, a Miami lawyer and self-proclaimed 'spectator sports geek' who travels around the country buying front-row box seats to ballgames. Always wearing his impossible-to-miss outfit, he has become arguably the nation’s most recognizable fan, something of a Forrest Gump-like character with a knack for showing up in live shots of batters taken from the centerfield camera." Leavy told the Herald he doesn't do it for the attention: "'I’m not in it for that. I just want to experience in person what I used to watch on TV.'"

Q: What is the phone number to call a live person at the IRS?

A: Call (800) 829-1040. And be patient -- it's a busy line, and you'll probably have to answer several questions before you reach a person.

Q: Does anyone in the Cedar Valley fix shoes?

A: Check the Yellow Pages under "shoe repair."

A question in the Oct. 31 paper asked about the song played at the end of Notre Dame games, and we gave the lyrics for the Notre Dame fight song. A few readers have suggested the caller really was asking about the school's alma mater song, "Notre Dame, Our Mother":

"Notre Dame, our Mother

Tender, strong and true

Proudly in the heavens,

Gleams thy gold and blue.

Glory’s mantle cloaks thee

Golden is thy fame,

And our hearts forever,

Praise thee, Notre Dame.

And our hearts forever,

Love thee, Notre Dame."
