First the history behind the kilt-The original Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery opened its doors in 2003 inside the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The hotel is one of the jewels in the portfolio of the giant gaming conglomerate of Harrah's Entertainment. The idea for a modern American, Irish, Scottish and English sports pub was the brain child of successful restaurateur Mark DiMartino.

The new Tilted Kilt located on Blairs Ferry Road in Cedar Rapids is locally owned and operated by Al and Donna Meyer. Donna a Milwaukee Wisconsin native and Al a Cedar Rapids hometown boy poured two-years of planning into creating Iowa's first Tilted Kilt. "Al and I took a trip to Vegas to get away for about three-days and went to the original Titled Kilt", Donna states. Further-we believed that the Tilted Kilt was a true and fresh Irish pub and this was a place that Cedar Rapids should have" Donna went on to say-"We wanted to open a restaurant-pub that would be unique in the Cedar Rapids area. In 2006-07 the Meyers began talks to open the Titled Kilt in Cedar Rapids. The process took two-years, they signed the paperwork in April 2008, construction began in May and the rest tells their story.

The Tilted Kilt's interior is dressed in brilliant hardwood trim and bar tops. The walls are coated with the signature Irish green paint and adorned with Irish pictures, memorabilia and over 15 flat-screen televisions. The entry way to each section welcomes you through rustic archways.
