PART-TIME OFFICE ASSISTANT

The City of Cedar Falls is accepting application materials for a 29 hr/wk Office Assistant position within its Visitors & Tourism Bureau.  Flexible work hours to be discussed.  Starting pay: $14.51/hr.  Duties will include providing Bureau support and public contact related to its services and operations.  Individual will coordinate with meeting planners and travel writers related to special events and destination promotion for group tours, leisure travel, etc.   Strong customer service, communication, organizational and computer skills, including expertise in Excel, Word and websites is required. 

 

High School diploma or equivalent and two years of office experience including high levels of public contact required.  Candidates must also have the physical ability to perform moderate lifting and transporting of Bureau materials.   Valid driver's license with good driving record preferred.  Post-offer, pre-employment physical including back assessment and drug screen required.   Position is eligible for annual pay increases and part-time benefits including pro-rated holidays, vacation, sick leave, cafeteria and retirement plans, upon qualifying.

LIBRARY ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

 

The Cedar Falls Public library is seeking a full-time Library Administrative Assistant.  Position will be 40 hours/week with some evening and weekend hours required.   Starting pay: $17.19/hour.

 

Administrative duties may include:  word processing; spreadsheet data entry;  accounts payable invoice processing; processing cash receipts; payroll data entry;  ordering office supplies and library materials;  maintaining fixed asset and supply inventory; budgeting assistance; financial and other reporting/tracking; Board and staff meeting assistance; developing patron and staff development and presentations; and filing, photocopying, and general communications.  Individual may also provide clerical and technical assistance to professional library staff and patrons; work closely with volunteers; coordinate Community Center/senior services events; perform services at a public service desk; and perform other tasks as assigned.  Position receives direction from the Library Director.

 

High school diploma or equivalent supplemented with one year of specialized training in clerical/secretarial, financial, accounting or bookkeeping procedures and practices required (please explain training in the Specialized Training section of the application form).  Candidates must also have two to three years of experience working in a library setting.  Strong organizational skills and detail orientation required.  Post-offer, pre-employment physical and drug screen required.
