TAMA - The Tama County Sheriff's Office announced today that is it seeking evidence relating to a death investigation.
The Sheriff's office and the Department of Criminal Investigation are searching a rural Tama County property and said they would release more information at the conclusion of the investigation.
The press release did not disclose the exact location but said they were searching an abandoned farm south of Tama and that owners were cooperating. It also did not say whose death was being investigated.
The investigation is not related to the disappearance of Cora Okonski who vanished in 2000, said Tama Police Chief Dan Wilkens.
In that case authorities searched a rural Irving property nearly a year ago hoping to lead them to the woman who disappeared at the age of 23.
Bones found on the property were determined to be animal bones.
Okonski remains missing.
