WATERLOO -- A Waterloo man was injured after the vehicle he was driving struck a guard rail while trying to exit off of Interstate 380 in Black Hawk County.

Theo Anise Kessler, 70, of Waterloo, was transported to his own home with unspecified injuries, according to the Iowa State Patrol report.

Troopers said Kessler was driving a 2000 Dodge Caravan southbound on I-380 at mile marker 66 just before 8 p.m. Wednesday when he attempted to take the exit and instead hit a guard rail.

His vehicle then spun and ended up in the median of I-380, according to the report.

No other vehicles were impacted by the crash.

The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office and the Evansdale Police Department assisted in the investigation.
