VINTON, Iowa - Authorities have identified the driver who died after leading officers on a chase Tuesday.
Scott Kirk, 50, of Vinton, died in the crash. The Benton County medical examiner pronounced him dead at the scene.
Police stopped Kirk after receiving a report of an intoxicated driver, but he sped off while talking to officers.
Kirk allegedly ran stop signs and traffic lights before losing control of his vehicle and hitting several trees on Iowa Highway 150.
