WATERLOO, Iowa --- A Waterloo woman was arrested Saturday after she allegedly pulled a handgun following a minor traffic accident.
Police said Nakima Jariece Owens, 32, who has a permit to carry weapons, claimed she was rear-ended by another vehicle while she was in the drive-through line at Taco John's restaurant, 1620 La Porte Road, at about 11:30 p.m.
The two drivers exchanged words, and a brief physical confrontation ensued.
After that, according to police, Owens returned to her car and grabbed a 9mm Glock handgun and worked the slide to chamber a round.
The other driver, Tara Wilson, had her 4-year-old son in the vehicle at the time, police said.
Officers arrived a short time later and seized the weapon.
Owens, of 806 Easton Ave., was arrested for going armed with intent.
Her permit to carry has been referred to the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office for possible action.
Last year, Owens shot a male acquaintance at her home following an argument. She wasn't charged in that incident after police determined the shooting was justified.
