BEAMAN, Iowa --- A traffic accident Monday morning four miles north of Beaman killed one person and injured the driver of a semi.

The deceased was identified as Steven Humphrey, 43, of Oelwein and formerly of Cedar Falls, according to Parrott & Wood funeral home.

The incident happened about 7 a.m.

According to the Grundy County Sheriff's Office, Humphrey was driving a minivan south on County Road T29 when a semi driven by William Thompson, 55, of Newton, rolled through a stop sign. Thompson's truck was eastbound on County Road D55.

The semi hit the van broadside and ejected Humphrey, according to the sheriff's office. Both vehicles then rolled into a ditch.

Humphrey was pronounced dead at the scene. Thompson was taken to the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. His injuries were described as not life threatening.

The incident was the second fatal accident in as many days in Grundy County. Tate Johnson, 9, of Dike, died Sunday when he reportedly lost control of an ATV five miles east of New Hartford.
