Hydrant flushing set for Thursday
WATERLOO — The Waterloo Water Works will flush hydrants Thursday in the area west of Ansborough Avenue, north of the Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, from Jane Street to Campbell Avenue.
Customers living within the area and within several blocks of the flushing area could experience water discoloration.
The water may be brownish during and immediately after the flushing, but the discolored water is bacterially safe.
Group marks flood recovery
CEDAR FALLS — To celebrate the Cedar Valley’s 10-year recovery anniversary from the flood of 2008, the North Cedar Neighborhood Association welcomes everyone to a walk around Big Woods Lake from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
There also will be a scavenger hunt and s’mores.
The walk and hunt will begin and end at the shelter at the south end of Big Woods Lake, 1200 Big Woods Road.
There is no charge for the family-friendly event.
Rhubarb on sale at Kimball market
WATERLOO —- The Kimball Ridge Family Market on Saturday will feature rhubarb.
The Kimball Ridge Family Market is a producer-only market, meaning all vendors either grow or make everything they sell.
Hours are 8 a.m. to noon at the corner of Ridgeway and Kimball avenues Selected vendors accept EB cards, debit/credit cards. WIC checks and SNAP vouchers.
