OKs auditing

CEDAR FALLS -- Central Rivers Area Education Agency's board of directors Wednesday approved a $145,930 contract for auditing services.

CliftonLarsonAllen of Cedar Rapids submitted one of two proposals and was chosen to provide the service. The contract covers audits for the next four years, starting with fiscal year 2019. The other proposal totaled $159,000 over four years.

Board members also approved two purchases.

A Konica Minolta copier/printer was purchased from Marco Technologies in Waterloo at a cost of $23,859. It is for the agency's Clear Lake office. A five-year service and supply contract for $116 per month was put in place, as well.

A two-year school district membership in the Mystery Science kindergarten through fifth-grade curriculum was purchased at a cost of $30,439. Available to all school districts served by the agency for the next two years, it provides hands-on lessons aligned to Next Generation Science Standards. The state's science requirements are based on the standards.

Medicare seminar
set for April 24

WATERLOO -- PDCM Insurance will host an informational Medicare seminar from 4 to 5 p.m. April 24 at the PDCM Insurance office at 3022 Airport Blvd.

Experts have designed an event to help those who are turning 65 to understand Medicare in a simple format.

West High
can drive  set

WATERLOO — The West High School vocal music department will hold its monthly redeemable can drive on from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Baltimore Street entrance of the West High School parking lot.

Students will be outside to remove five-cent refundable glass, plastic and aluminum beverage containers from vehicles. Funds raised each month support the West High School vocal music department.
