CEDAR FALLS — The Recycling and Reuse Technology Transfer Center will sponsor a transition and recognition event to honor Dr. Geraldine Perreault and her work with American Democracy Project on July 21 from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Geraldine (Gerri) Perreault, University of Northern Iowa faculty, director of leadership studies and chair of the American Democracy Project recently retired. The public is invited to a reception at University Bookstore. No gifts requested.

Urban market open Saturday

WATERLOO — Saturday will be Double Up Food Bucks Day at the Waterloo Urban Farmers Market, open from 8 a.m. to noon at the Riverloop Expo Plaza, 460 Jefferson St.

Also, special guest this week is Try Pie, selling fresh-made pies.

The market also features live entertainment, a variety of fresh produce, baked goods, hot foods, drinks and handicrafts.

Humane society sets meeting date

WATERLOO — The community is welcome to the Cedar Bend Humane Society annual meeting at 6 p.m. July 24.

It will be at the adoption center at 1166 W. Airline Highway.

Market will offer stir fry

WATERLOO — Those attending the Kimball Ridge Family Market Saturday can sample Pine Grove Farm corn-fed beef in a stir-fry using vegetables available at the market.

Market hours are 8 a.m. to noon at the corner of Kimball and Ridgeway avenues.
