CEDAR FALLS — Opening day for the College Hill Farmers Market is from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday.

Vendors will offer seasonal produce, fresh herbs, flowers, healthy snacks, fresh bread and more. There will be live music from Octopus Lounge.

Attendees can purchase hot foods from LaCalle, support the rain barrel art project hosted by Americorps, enjoy face painting from the Hearst Center and more.

This special market event will take place on College Street.

WATERLOO—The Black Hawk Veterans Affairs office is promoting and hosting a number of events in June.

The events are part of an effort to reach out to the veterans throughout Black Hawk County.

One of the events is a Diversity Outreach Cookout for Veterans at Sullivan Park June 5 from 5 to 8 p.m.

On June 16, the VA will have Coffee & Camaraderie at Washington Park in Cedar Falls from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

BJ’s Bar will host a Billiard Tournament for veterans on June 23.

A Salute to Veterans Cookout on Tuesday, June 26 at Lincoln Park from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. will be sponsored by the 39-3 Combat Veteran Motorcycle Association

Throughout the summer the VA will have a weekly cookout in Lincoln Park from 11 a.m. to noon.
