WATERLOO — The Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors has approved a road maintenance agreement with Washburn Wind Energy LLC for the repair of public infrastructure affected by the construction of the wind energy facility.
There will be a pre- and post-construction survey of the roads and routes the company will use. Washburn Wind Energy will be responsible for repairing any damage, Assistant County Engineer Ryan Brennan said.
In other board business, Heidi Warrington and Glen Keith were appointed to the Black Hawk County Veterans Affairs Commission, effective July 1.
Keith and Warrington will be the first field grade officers on the commission. Warrington was a colonel in the U.S. Army, serving 34 years in active duty and reserves.
“It’s a pleasure to be back home as a home town girl,” Warrington said. “It’s exciting and I consider it an honor to be part of the solution.”
Keith served 25 in the Marine Corps Reserves and as an active duty soldier.
Recently retired, he’s been living in the community since 2013. Keith runs the East High School Junior ROTC program.
Having two flag officers on the commission will give the Black Hawk Veterans Affairs officer greater access to the Statehouse, said VA Director Kevin Dill.
