CEDAR FALLS | A residential garage across from Cedar Falls High School caught fire Thursday afternoon.

The blaze apparently started in leaves behind the detached garage at 1211 W. 10th St. and spread to the back of the building and began working its way forward, said Public Safety Director Jeff Olson. He said the residents weren’t burning leaves, and it wasn’t immediately clear how the leaves caught fire.
