CEDAR FALLS — A Des Moines area girl with ties to Cedar Falls has lost her battle with cancer.
Evie Mueller, who turned 4 on Saturday, died over the weekend. She is the daughter of Taylor Fairman, formerly of Cedar Falls, and the granddaughter of Kane and DeeAnn Fairman, formerly of Cedar Falls.
Evie had been diagnosed with liver cancer at age 2 and underwent numerous surgeries and treatments, including a multivisceral transplant in July. But the cancer had recently returned and spread to her brain. Family members announced her death on the COTA (Children’s Organ Transplant Association) for Evie’s Freedom Facebook site Sunday.
DeeAnn Fairman wrote, “Every moment matters! Evie has her angels wings! Our hearts are soo broken. But we know God is rocking (her) in his arms singing her favorite songs. The days and weeks to come will be very difficult! Please pray for our family, especially for our Taylor who has devoted every day to her care for the entire battle!
Thank you all for your prayers and support and hugs!! Her strength, courage and sweet sassy spirit has touched so many! We could not have made it without each and every one of you!!!”
Numerous fundraisers had been held in the area by friends of the family to help the family with the costs surrounding her care. Most recently school children wrote birthday cards for Evie. Evie and her family also recently went on a Make A Wish trip to Disney World.
