CEDAR FALLS -- A vandal sprayed "Black Lives Matter" onto one outside wall of the Kamerick Art Building on the University of Northern Iowa campus.

UNI Public Safety received a call just before 9 a.m. Wednesday about the graffiti, which was sprayed in black spray paint on the west side of the building facing Hudson Road. The word "matter" was underlined.

Director of University Relations Scott Ketelsen said he drove by the building Wednesday morning and saw it, noting it was near the pedestrian bridge.

"We have enough buildings on campus that graffiti is a periodic issue," Ketelsen said. "The policy is, when we find out about it, we have it removed."

Ketelsen said UNI Public Safety was investigating.

Black Lives Matter is a nationwide movement protesting police brutality against minorities.
