CEDAR FALLS – The University of Northern Iowa Veteran Association is partnering with University of Northern Iowa Military and Veteran Student Services to host its second annual statewide PTSD Awareness Conference from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 28 in Maucker Union.

The conference will cover issues and concerns related to PTSD, or post-traumatic stress disorder, that not only originate from military experiences but also will include topics regarding sexual assault, addictions and other traumas. Speakers will present on subjects such as mental, emotional and academic support for those suffering from PTSD; the conference will focus on therapy such as art, music, service dogs and forgiveness.

The conference will include an open panel discussion on how PTSD affects people during their day-to-day life, college and professional careers.

The PTSD Awareness Conference was made possible through a partnership between the UNI Counseling Center, UNI Student Disability Services, UNI Student Wellness Services, UNI Veteran Association and UNI MVSS.
