WATERLOO – Police are investigating two break-ins at Waterloo businesses in recent days.

It wasn’t clear if the crimes were related, but they happened within blocks of each other.

In the first case, a worker at SNT Fireworks, 194 W. Mullan Ave., called police on Sunday morning after discovering the burglary.

Officers determined someone entered the store through a bathroom window and took cash and a small amount of fireworks, according to the police report. Authorities believe the burglary happened sometime overnight.

Then at about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, police were called to an alarm at Metro Transmission and Auto Repair, 326 W. 10th St. Like the earlier break-in, someone had used a window to enter the business. This time the intruder took a set of keys and fled, according to police.
