WATERLOO – Police continue to investigate a string of robberies at local convenience stores.

The latest holdup came Tuesday at Prime Mart, 508 Broadway St., when a man entered the store around 7:30 a.m. with his face covered and gloves on his hands. He assaulted the clerk and fled with cash and cigarettes.

Police said he didn’t have a weapon.

The robbery came less than a week after two people armed with a gun held up the Neighborhood Mart, 2100 Lafayette St., around 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 22. The store was also robbed on the morning of Jan. 31 hours following a botched robbery at Auto Zone on Logan Avenue.

Police are also investigating the robbery of B&B East on Bishop Avenue at 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 10.
