WATERLOO – Three men have been arrested for allegedly breaking into a Waterloo bar early Wednesday.
Waterloo police arrested Antonio Scott McGhee, 27, of 1031 Independence Ave.; Elvis Puric, 28, of 1043 Independence Ave.; and Suad Covic, 25, of 519 W. Ninth St., for third-degree burglary, attempted burglary and interference after a stolen vehicle they were in slid into a yard, and they allegedly attempted to run off.
McGhee, the driver, was also arrested for misdemeanor eluding and driving while suspended.
Officers had attempted to stop the vehicle in the 700 block of Jefferson Street around 3:10 a.m. Wednesday. The vehicle drove off at a high rate of speed, eventually slipping off the road at Paper Mill and Commercial streets.
Police found the men with burglary tools and a large amount of cash, according to court records.
Authorities said the three had attempted to break into Karma Bar, 309 W. Fourth St., but weren’t successful and returned to try again shortly before the chase.
